Abstract: | This doctoral dissertation is invested in analyzing the argumentative construction of emotions on a clarification provided by a victim during the interrogation of a defendant charged with attempted femicide. We assume that every word is argumentative and is intended to affect someone. By adopting this perspective, we also recognize that the emotions are important to the argumentative construction of discourse. To achieve our goals, our main theoretical bases were Plantin’s studies (1996; 2010; 2011; 2014), author whose model will support and guide our analyses. This theoretical framework will be supplemented by rhetorical, argumentation, genre, and prosodic studies. By doing that, we expect to contribute, even at modest levels, to Plantin’s model (2011), since we take the acoustic components of emotions into account in our analyses. Finally, we believe that, through the dialogue between the theories, proposing the inclusion of Prosody in the argumentation, rhetorical, and emotion studies in both featured genres will allow us to better understand their operation. In addition, the interrelationship between the theoretical bases of this study may contribute both with the development of the linguistic studies – discourse analysis, prosody, and others – and those related to the legal field. |
