| Title: | O cuidado da criança com câncer e o significado para o médico |

| Abstract: | Como o médico consegue assistir uma criança com câncer e o processo de seu tratamento, que pode ir do diagnóstico até a morte, sem se envolver? Não consegue. O sujeito desta pesquisa vive uma relação humana extrema, o longo tratamento do câncer, o inconformismo com o processo da morte da criança, a projeção para sua condição de pai e mãe, o vínculo, a angústia na procura da objetividade, a sensação de fracasso, isso tudo revela um trabalho sofrido, muito diferente daquele apregoado na ideologia médica tradicional de “não se envolver”, de manter, apenas, uma relação profissional na lida com a criança e a sua família. Os cuidados prestados ao paciente em processo de morrer são aqueles prescritos no conjunto do que se denominam cuidados paliativos, entretanto o fazem intuitivamente. Todos se sentiriam aliviados se houvesse uma equipe especializada no cuidado dessas crianças em fase final da vida e suas famílias. Os médicos pesquisados refletem o que está posto socialmente, experimentam o desconforto peculiar na presença dos que estão morrendo. Talvez devêssemos falar mais aberta e claramente sobre a morte para então fazer a pergunta: como fazer com que o fim, a despedida dos seres humanos, seja tão fácil e agradável quanto possível? |
| Abstract: | How can doctors follow a child with cancer and its treatment process, which may go from the diagnosis to death, and not get involved? They can not. The subject of this research experiences an extreme human relationship, the cancer long treatment, the non-conformism with the child’s death, the transference to his/her condition of father and mother, the bond, the anguish on the search of objectiveness, the sensation of failure, reveal a painful work, very different form the one proclaimed in the traditional medical ideology of “do not get involve”, only keep a professional relationship when dealing with the child and the family. The cares prescribed in the set called palliative cares are the ones given to patients in death process, however intuitively. Everybody would feel relieved if there was a specialized team to take care of these terminal children and their families. The doctors of this research reflect what is socially stated, they experience the peculiar discomfort in the presence of those who are dying. Maybe we should speak more clearly and openly about death to be able to make the question: how to make the end, the human being farewell, as easy and pleasant as possible? |
