dc.description.abstractThe way the midia represents migrants and refugees plays a role on their reception and perception in the new country (Ferreira/ Flister, 2019). The present study aims at discussing online media reports on migration and refuge in the light of cognitive linguistics through the analysis of conceptual metaphors employed by two online newspapers, i.e. a Brazilian and a German online newspaper which deal with the conceptualization of refuge (refúgio in Brazilian Portuguese, Flucht in German). Corpus linguistics was employed as supporting methodology. Our goal is to compare those linguistic uses in two different cultural and pragmatic contexts, i.e. the Brazilian and the German culture, by means of the analysis of conceptual mappings and metaphorical framings about refuge and migration in the online midia. Some questions we intend to address are: Which frames and metaphors emerge in the Brazilian and German midia in the online newspapers Folha de São Paulo (FSP) in Brazil, and Frankfurter Allgemeine Online (FaZ) in Germany in order to represent ‘refuge’? What are their implications? Results revealed the use of frames and metaphors from the experiential domain of DISASTERS/ NATURAL PHENOMENA with a negative polarity such as waves of immigration, migratory avalanche, Flüchtlingsströmen (streams of refugees), and Flüchtlingsbestie (refugee monster).pt_BR
dc.description.resumoO modo como a mídia representa migrantes e refugiados desempenha um papel importante na percepção e recepção desse grupo em seu novo país (Ferreira/ Flister, 2019). Este estudo visa a problematizar o olhar da mídia online sobre imigração e refúgio no quadro de uma discussão sobre o tema a partir de uma perspectiva teórica da linguística cognitiva, por meio da análise de metáforas conceituais utilizadas por dois jornais online (um brasileiro e outro alemão) em torno da conceitualização do termo refúgio (Flucht em alemão). Este estudo foi desenvolvido com apoio de metodologia da linguística de corpus. Nosso objetivo é contrastar os usos linguísticos em dois contextos culturais e pragmáticos distintos, i.e. a cultura brasileira e a cultura alemã respectivamente, por meio da análise de mapeamentos metafóricos sobre refúgio e imigração na mídia online através de enquadramentos metafóricos presentes nesses jornais. Algumas questões que pretendemos responder são: Que frames e que metáforas surgem na mídia online brasileira e alemã, a exemplo dos jornais online Folha de São Paulo (FSP), no Brasil, e o jornal online Frankfurter Allgemeine Online (FaZ) na Alemanha, para representar o conceito refúgio? Quais são suas implicações? Os resultados apontaram o uso de frames e metáforas do domínio experiencial DESASTRES/ FENÔMENOS NATURAIS com conotação negativa como ondas de imigração3, avalanche imigratória, Flüchtlingsströmen (correntes de refugiados) e Flüchtlingsbestie (monstro refugiado).pt_BR
