The techniques of wound care have been recorded since ancient times, Greeks and Egyptians. Many of these practices were supported in knowledge and individual conduct and directed by the needs of the time, such as injuries to recover soldiers caused by firearms during the war. In the twentieth century, several research studies were designed tonot only identify the best treatment, but also achieve an understanding of the complex healing process (Borges, et al, 2008). According to Silva (2009), among numerous products and treatment methods available thatcan be adopted to enhance the standard treatment of injuries, has gained prominence hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) therapy indicated for the treatment of acute or chronic wounds, infectious in nature, ischemic, traumatic or infectious. This study deals with the review of the literature intergrades strategy that aimed to identify the effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in isolation in the treatment of skin lesions. In recent years there have been new knowledge and technological advances that made possible the improvement in outcomes of clients who had problems with chronic wounds, refractory and debilitating. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has enabled aid in the treatment ofskin lesions. The number of publications reviewed for this study were composed in 2005 totaled articles, demonstrated the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy as a form of adjuvant therapy for treatment of injuries.pt_BR
