dc.description.abstract | Helicobacter pylori (HP) is a Gram-negative spiral bacterium found in the gastric epithelium, which affects about half of the world population. It is acquired in childhood and is an important primary cause of gastroduodenal pathologies, such as ulcer and gastric cancer. Its prevalence is variable, being influenced by socioeconomic factors, geographic region, ethnicity, race and age. The treatment of HP infection aims at an eradication of at least 90%. In pediatrics, the decision to investigate and treat should be evaluated individually and be supported in a clear benefit to the patient. When treatment is indicated, the correct therapeutic regimens should be followed It is noteworthy that antibiotic resistance rates are increasing worldwide, therefore, adequate choice of the therapeutic scheme and guidelines on the importance of adherence to treatment should be constantly emphasized. Vaccination is the only strategy that would decisively influence the worldwide prevalence and incidence of HP. | pt_BR |
| pt_BR |
