Abstract:	O surgimento da Web 2.0 e todos os seus recursos gerou um impacto substancial para as bibliotecas. Para manter seus usuários que estavam migrando para internet, as bibliotecas precisaram se reinventar, além de aprimorar os seus produtos e serviços tradicionais, gerando novos produtos e serviços baseados na Web 2.0. Entre as novas ferramentas que a biblioteca utilizou para se adaptar aos novos tempos, a escolhida para essa pesquisa foram às redes sociais, devido ao impacto que elas têm na vida dos brasileiros. Esse estudo é um trabalho descritivo explicativo. A proposta desse estudo visa realizar uma investigação quantitativa do uso das redes sociais em cada um dos componentes do Sistema de Bibliotecas da Universidade Federal de Minais Gerais. O instrumento utilizado para realizar a pesquisa foi o questionário, com o intuito de analisar a presença das bibliotecas do Sistema de Bibliotecas da Universidade de Minas Gerais nas redes sociais, verificando quais bibliotecas as utilizam e quais redes foram escolhidas para tal utilização, com o propósito de identificar quais são os obstáculos enfrentados pelos bibliotecários de cada biblioteca do sistema no que diz respeito à implementação da utilização das redes sociais, bem como do seu uso. A aplicação do referido estudo resultou em conhecer uma parcela da realidade do Sistema de Bibliotecas da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais com relação uso e a manutenção das redes sociais e sugerem-se algumas sugestões para melhoria do uso e da manutenção dessa ferramenta.
Abstract:	The emergence of Web 2.0 and all of its features has had a substantial impact on libraries. In order to keep their users who were migrating to the internet, libraries had to reinvent themselves, as well as enhance their traditional products and services, generating new Web 2.0-based products and services. Among the new tools that the library used to adapt for the new times, the one chosen for this research were social networks, due to the impact they have on the lives of Brazilians. This study is an explanatory descriptive work. The purpose of this study is to conduct a quantitative investigation of the use of social networks in each of the components of the Library System inthe Federal University of Minais Gerais. The instrument used to conduct the research was the questionnaire, in order to analyze the presence of libraries of the University of Minas Gerais Library System in social networks, checking which libraries use them and which networks were chosen for such use, with the purpose to identify the obstacles faced by librarians in each library of the system regarding the implementation and use of social networks. The application of this study resulted in knowing a portion of the reality of the Library System of the Federal University of Minas Gerais regarding the use and maintenance of social networks and some suggestions for improving the use and maintenanceof this tool are suggested
