dc.description.abstract | Congenital syphilis is a global infectious disease with possible systemic complications in early congenital syphilis (bone, neurological, hematological and hepatosplenic) or late (stigma due to remodeling and bone deformities). Although it is a disease with treatment and prevention at an affordable cost, in Brazil there has been a threefold increase in its prevalence among live births in the last ten years. A quality prenatal care allows an effective approach of the infected pregnant woman with timely treatment of mother, infected partners and the child in gestation. Improving quality of care with respect to risk factors can significantly reduce the occurrence of congenital syphilis and prevent serious complications of congenital syphilis in children in the short and long term. | pt_BR |
