Abstract: | Family Farming in Brazil represents the majority of rural properties and occupies most of the agricultural labor force, but has marginal and oppressed access to land ownership. In this sense, the objective of this case study is to present the actions, results and impacts of the “Family Agriculture Study Group of the Veterinary School of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (GEAF-UFMG)”. The GEAF-UFMG was designed with the objective of holding discussions and establishing exchanges of information about family farming. The group is composed of undergraduate and graduate students from different courses. It is configured as a space where, through weekly meetings, courses, events, and other outreach activities focused on family farming are organized. From the study group, students have the opportunity to deepen their studies on the subject, promote politicization, establish links with social movements and groups that represent family farming, in addition to generating skills and competences for cooperative and group work. |
