Permanência de trabalhadores culturais durante a pandemia da COVID19 : uma análise sobre a sobrevivência e mobilidade nos postos de trabalho

Abstract

This dissertation studies the tenure and mobility of cultural workers between May and November 2020, using data from the National Household Sample Survey Covid-19 (PNAD Covid-19). The Kaplan-Meier model was used for the survival estimates, complemented by the Cox model. The multinomial logistic model was chosen to estimate the odds of mobility. The

analysis of the cultural workers' profile reveals a sector composed of a significant share of self- employed professionals, predominantly white and with an average income above the economy's

average, even though they have lower educational levels. The results of the estimates show a diversified labor market distinct from the rest of the economy. Cultural workers had an average job tenure lower than the overall economy. It was observed that non-white cultural workers had a longer tenure, although the effect of the coefficients indicates that the male gender positively impacts tenure in the sector. Factors such as education and income were shown to be positive for tenure, up to a point, as higher income brackets showed a higher exit and transition to other groups. Those cultural workers who received financial aid remained in their jobs longer than those who did not, although the individual effect of this variable was not shown to be positive for staying in cultural occupations. On the other hand, the practice of home office was shown to be positive for staying in cultural occupations in all aspects studied. In this perspective, this dissertation highlights how the cultural labor market was impacted in diverse ways by the Covid-19 health and economic crisis, underscoring the importance of understanding the nuances of the cultural sector for the protection of cultural occupations.
