Abstract

This study presents as central theme the breastfeeding of children up to six months of age as a factor indispensable, Demystifying the yearnings of expectant mothers about breastfeeding. The goal of this academic instrument is to identify in the literature the performance of the healthcare team family health in exclusive breastfeeding the child up to six months of age, as well as identify the advances and challenges encountered by the team on the development of actions to encourage the exclusive breastfeeding up to six months of age, the recommendation of the Ministry of Health. The results of the study show that the actual rates are far from the recommended, besides highlighting the team care in breastfeeding, emphasizing in the perspective of its good performance in the promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding and its contribution to increased prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding. The results also reinforces the importance of breastfeeding and the need of the healthcare team to be prepared for this process, guiding and accompanying the mother since the beginning of pregnancy.
