Acompanhamento dos diabéticos tipo 2 na atenção primária: um desafio para a Estratégia Saúde da Família Serrinha

Abstract

The Diabetes Mellitus type 2 represents a grave problem in public health, whose growth of incidents is related to unhealthy life habits and the population aging. The action of primary attention becomes fundamental in controlling the disease, by assisting diabetic patients and the prevention of new cases. Inaugurated about 8 years ago, the Family Health Strategy Serrinha, localized in the city of Varzea da Palma/Minas Gerais, assists a population of 2.979 registered people, being 398 hyper tense and 96 diabetics. The objective of this work is to elaborate a project of intervention for the adequate following of cases of Diabetes Mellitus type 2 registered in the area of Family Health Strategy Serrinha. For the development of the intervention plan the method utilized was the Strategic Situational Planning. The collection of data and secondary information was executed in the period corresponding from April to June of 2015. A literature revision was also carried out referring to the theme, utilizing the following fonts of electronic data: SCIELO, LILACS, BIEREME, the Brazilian Health Ministry and the Brazilian Diabetes Society. It was verified, therefore, that the continuous and permanent education, offered at the free basic health clinics, guarantee that the Diabetes Mellitus type 2 patient has access to the appropriate treatment and be stimulated to enable self-care, avoiding complications and death related to Diabetes. The data brought up by the health team, in Varzea da Palma / MG, evidence that Diabetes has not been addressed effectively in the territory, and that its necessary to review the way of treatment being practiced to the Type 2 Diabetics and optimize the one offered today.
