Abstract: | This is a review of the literature in order to verify the effects of flexibility and strength training on the mechanical properties of connective tissue in asymptomatic individuals. We searched the MEDLINE, LILACS / BVS, PEDRo, Cochrane Library, Google academic and SCOPUS databases. We included studies with a sample composed of healthy, physically active (asymptomatic) subjects that had the theme of flexibility and / or strength training with the association of at least one of these with connective tissue. We excluded studies that did not present sufficient information on the mechanical properties of connective tissue, studies of other isolated therapies, and systematic reviews and / or literature studies. At the end of these searches there were 18 records, however, in a new search that was carried out on 06/10/18, four more records were included in the results, totaling 22 records. The studies show effects on the viscoelastic properties and hysteresis of the connective tissue with increasing their extensibility in relation to the flexibility and greater effects on the elongated position / eccentric contraction with respect to the force. The flexibility and force training produces acute and transient effects on the viscoelastic properties and hysteresis of the connective tissue increasing its elasticity and also gives the muscular tissue a greater accumulation of elastic energy during the accomplishment of eccentric contractions, potentiating concentric contractions that are realized soon after. |
