Propriedades de medida dos instrumentos de avaliação do nível de atividade física em indivíduos com Doença de Parkinson: uma revisão bibliográfica

Abstract

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic degeneration that affects the central nervous system characterized by motor disorders and non-motor disorders. The evolution of PD is associated with progressive and functional deficits contributing to a low level of physical activity (FA). The maintenance of a good level of PA in individuals with PD can attenuate motor and non-motor symptoms, leading to an improvement in muscle strength, mobility and body balance. Assessment of the level of PA in a particular population group or health condition should be performed with valid and reliable instruments. Thus, the objective of this study was to investigate the measurement properties already reported for the instruments used to assess the level of PA in individuals with PD. For this narrative review, we searched the databases Medline (via PubMed) and Scielo using descriptors related to three components: health condition (PD), outcome (level of AF) and measurement properties. We included all studies that investigated the measurement properties of the objective and / or subjective assessment instruments of the level of PA in individuals with PD. A total of 411 studies were found, of which seven were selected for describing objective and / or subjective instruments for assessing the level of PA in individuals with PD and their measurement properties. A total of five objective methods and two subjective methods of assessing the level of PA have been described in the included studies. The most investigated measure properties for the objective methods were concurrent criterion validity and test-retest reliability. Already for the subjective methods the most investigated measure property was the construct validity. This literature review has shown that few studies have investigated the measurement properties of the instruments for evaluating the level of PA in individuals with PD. Among the measured properties investigated the validity of concurrent criterion and the reliability test-retest were the most reported considering the objective methods, while the validity of construct was the most mentioned for the subjective methods. Future studies, well delineated, investigating other measurement properties of instruments included in this review are required.
