Abstract: This thesis is dedicated to develop an interleaved boost converter topology operating in continuous conduction mode. One of the advantages of the proposed topology, for high performance applications, is the input current ripple reduction, which implies an increase in the switching frequency and the use of smaller passive components for the filter, improving overall system dynamics. In this context, a generalized modeling of the N-cell interleaved boost converter using state-space averaging technique is proposed. The steady-state and small-signal models of the converter have been developed including the presence of the discontinuity in the duty-cycle. Here, a frequency domain analysis and a control strategy are also delivered, as well as the characterization of the input current ripple and the output voltage harmonic spectrum. The formulation considers a variation in the number of cells in parallel, in order to elucidate the main contributions of the topology, illustrating its properties through simulation results, willing to identify possibles contributions for bandwidth improvement in high performance applications.
