Efeitos das relações na escola na construção de estereótipos e hierarquias de gênero entre meninas e meninos

Abstract

The aim of this study is discuss , based on studies of Foucault and other importants scholars, about gender issues, relations within the school and its effects on the construction of stereotypes of boys and girls. It is believed that the relationship between the students and also between them and the school's professionals can influence on the development of gender stereotypes by children who, in its sight, may lead to hierarchies situations and inequalities between boys and girls which in future will become inequalities between men and women. Therefore, the school whose primary function is to form autonomous and responsible citizens for a life in society can just contribute to the formation of prejudices about the social role of women and reproducing the violence that exists beyond its walls. The causes of the formation of these preconceptions may have its genesis in the violence experienced by students in school, due to the hard disciplinary system of the same which aims to regulate, define and enforce in his speeches what is "normal" and what it is not. The study drew on an ethnographic survey in a public school of Belo Horizonte. The analyzes were performed through participant observation on surveillance and standardization in the school context, in order to understand the influences of such procedures in the relations of otherness between the students. Thus, from Foucault's theory that explains the disciplinary system of institutions such as schools and their power relations, we analyzed how students can reproduce these relationships of unequal power among its peers, which in the future may lead to objective conditions of hierarchy and gender inequality.
