A valorização da identidade negras nas escolas

Abstract

This study aimed to raise awareness of the real need to value the black identity within schools, seeking to combat racism and improving the relationship between everyone. To facilitate this task, a theoretical research was conducted based on literary materials, literature from secondary sources and supplementary materials; and an empirical research whose data were collected through informal conversations made with the twenty-four students from 3rd year, class 313 of the Municipal School "Hector Claudio de Sales." These data were recorded in a field diary notes with words, attitudes, postures and other actions of the same that have been observed. During the process the following intervention activities were developed: informal conversation circle on the history of the arrival of blacks who were cruelly taken from Africa to be enslaved in Brazil for a long period of slavery until the date of abolition; film screening with the design "Kirikou and the Sorceress", a beautiful drawing shrouded in mystery which highlights the intelligence and courage to Kiriku; and reading the book "The Braids Bintou," an African tale that talks about the history of Bintou little girl who dreamed of having her huge hair, with long braids equal those of her older sister. It was also made posters in the classroom, telling the story of black today in society, how they live and how their work today. Despite the short time we had for carrying out these activities, we had good results as students respecting more, everyone playing with everyone, without distinction. Even could be observed to a significant reduction in the number of racist nicknames and jokes in the classroom.
