A participação das famílias em reuniões escolares na Educação infantil: um estudo na EMEI Braúnas

Abstract

This research paper aimed to identify and analyze the different factors / reasons that interfere with the absence of parents in pedagogical meetings regarding their children in kindergarten and more specifically to verify the frequency index in EMEI Braunas kindergarten classes; as it is noticeable the absence of many family members at these school moments.In addition, we identify and analyze the justifications presented by those who are absent from the meetings, and describe the perception and involvement of teachers at Braunas Municipal School of Early Childhood Education when they think about parent meetings.The research was carried out with the relatives of the enrolled children who attended the school and with the teachers working at EMEI Braunas, located in Belo Horizonte. This research took place from August 2018 to September 2019. We analyzed the documents that refer to parent meetings: family attendance lists, meeting schedules, family convocation tickets and the Curriculum Proposals of the Municipality of Belo Horizonte and Educational Legislation regarding family participation in the stages of early childhood education. The research pointed the results and justifications for the absences of the family members in the meetings between families and school. Absences are not directly related to family members’ lack of interest in attending meetings, but to factors that interfere with their attendance, such as: the date and time of work coincide with the meetings and the impossibility of being dismissed from work; the female figure assuming a new position in the family scheme and, in this sense, needing to be absent from activities in the children's school; school communication with the family has often not been effective.
