Instrumentos de avaliação da sexualidade em homens e mulheres após a lesão medular: uma revisão sistemática de literatura

Abstract

Introduction: The availability of instruments for assessing sexual health is very important for good clinical practice, as it enables health professionals to evaluate and intervene effectively, achieving the best standards of evaluation and intervention, and thus quality of life of this population. Aims: To review and analyze the instruments of evaluation of sexuality in men and women after the spinal cord injury available in the literature, in relation to their use and measurement properties. Methodology: This is a systematic review of the literature of the Pubmed, Lilacs, Scielo and Cinahl databases, of all studies up to May 2019, in which the search strategy consisted of the use of three keywords: sexuality, spinal cord injury and evaluation. Results: Eighteen studies complied with the eligibility criteria and were included in the present review. Seven validated instruments were found for evaluation of sexuality in individuals with spinal cord injury, nine generics and twelve instruments for evaluation of factors possibly related to sexuality. Conclusion: This review identified a total of 28 instruments that were used in the evaluation of sexuality in individuals with spinal cord injury, however, only seven of these instruments were validated. Given the multifactorial nature of sexuality in this population, the instruments should have their measurement properties tested and proven.
