| Title: | O poeta e a cidade: um estudo semi-simbólico sobre artefatos culturais |

| Abstract: | Neste artigo, o objetivo é analisar, por meio de procedimentos semissimbólicos, artefatos culturais no contexto urbano, em particular, os referentes a Carlos Drummond de Andrade na cidade de Itabira, em Minas Gerais, algo necessário tendo em vista que ainda são poucos os trabalhos com base em dados visuais nos estudos organizacionais. Para tanto, a partir de fotografias, a análise aqui empregada revelou ser a figura do poeta itabirano, algo simultaneamente próximo e distante. A proximidade vem da sua presença em vários pontos da cidade. A distância deve-se ao fato de sua poesia, em grande parte, ser desconhecida da população local. As principais implicações do estudo referem-se aos efeitos da indústria cultural, valendo-se da cultura para manter as disparidades sociais. No caso em foco, isso significa, por um lado, a tentativa sistemática de um pequeno grupo de invocar e impor, por meio de monumentos, uma figura como mote da cultura local; por outro, que essa figura seja rejeitada pelos nativos, os quais não reconhecem, na sua obra, a cultura de que necessitam. |
| Abstract: | In this paper, we deal with the analysis of cultural artifacts within the urban context, through semi-symbolic procedures, particularly those related to Carlos Drummond de Andrade in Itabira, Minas Gerais (Brazil). That is necessary considering that there are few studies based on visual data in organization studies. Starting from pictures, the semi-symbolic analysis revealed that the poet’s figure is simultaneously near and distant. Proximity comes from his presence in several spots around the town. Distance comes from his poetry being unknown to the local population. The main implications of this study refer to the effects of cultural industry, which uses culture to keep social inequalities. In this case, it means a systematic trial to invoque and impose, through monuments, a figure as the representation of the local culture to a small group. On the other hand, that figure is rejected by natives, who do not recognize in such poetry the culture they need. |
