As audácias e as histórias : análise psicossocial das trajetórias de negras/os doutoras/es em Psicologia na interface dos estudos sobre carreiras

Abstract

The present thesis consists of a study about the professional and life trajectories of self-declared black people, and who have gone through stricto sensu postgraduate courses in Psychology, aiming at the teaching career in Higher Education Institutions. The discussion is made through a critical and decolonial perspective that articulates knowledge from the fields of Social Psychology and Professional Guidance. The research in question arose from the author's discomfort regarding the small number of black teachers in the Psychology courses in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Added to this is the increase in affirmative actions and the number of black people who have won space in the masters and doctoral courses in Psychology of that territory, in contrast to their low professional entry, after obtaining the degree. In addition to compiling these observations, the investigation carried out methodologically used to listen to the stories of four informants (two women and two men) crossed through the composition of two fictional narratives, which deal with career, blackness and racism. Among the results, from the point of view of the trajectories of the people interviewed, it is noteworthy that there was no career planning, but life, as gaps were perceived, allowed each one to live the dreams and professional desires. It is also observed in the literature, becoming or discovering yourself black has gained new contours and strength in the university experience of these subjects. The stories heard denounce the material and symbolic differences to cross undergraduate and graduate courses: family aspects and their challenges and agencies, financial difficulties (reconciling study and work), low representativeness (presence of few or no black reference figures in the context academic), few spaces for dialogue, but several examples of situations in which injury and racial prejudice. It appears that throughout the training of the study participants, Psychology (or the search for a Psychology corresponding to the suffering felt and the other yearnings) has become an instrument of resistance and coping with the oppressions experienced. Finally, it is argued for the inclusion of Professional and Career Guidance in praxis and critical perspectives as part of the affirmative actions aimed at the black population, considering it as a tool for clinical and psychosocial interventions in the face of the problems presented.
