dc.description.abstractO artigo apresenta uma avaliação crítica da abordagem Schumpeteriana macroeconômica de crescimento. Tomando como referência uma amostra representativa dos trabalhos dessa tradição, o artigo identifica as principais contribuições e limitações da literatura Schumpeteriana macroeconômica para o entendimento do processo de crescimento. Mais especificamente, a revisão de literatura realizada foca três contribuições Schumpeterianas que se tornaram particularmente influentes nos modelos macro de crescimento: (i) o papel da transferência de tecnologia para o crescimento da produtividade em países seguidores; (ii) a importância da intensidade de pesquisa para o progresso técnico; e (iii) a proeminência da competitividade tecnológica para a performance comercial. O artigo apresenta duas contribuições: (i) prover uma revisão organizada da literatura até seu estado presente; e (ii) indicar pontos nessa literatura que deveriam ser melhor explorados em pesquisa futuras.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoThe paper presents a critical assessment of the Schumpeterian macroeconomic approach to economic growth. Taking as reference a representative sample of important works within this tradition, the paper identifies the main contributions and limitations of the macroeconomic Schumpeterian literature to understanding economic growth. More specifically, the literature review carried out in this paper focuses on three of Schumpeter’s ideas that have become particularly influential in macroeconomic growth theory: (i) the role of technological transfer in productivity growth in follower countries; (ii) the importance of research intensity for technical progress; and (iii) the prominence of technological competitiveness for trade performance. The contribution of the paper is twofold: (i) it provides an organized review of the macroeconomic literature until its present state; and (ii) it indicates important gaps in this literature that should be the focus of further research.pt_BR
