Espaços sociais de lazer e a identidade cultural nos igarapés do município de Santa Izabel do Pará

Abstract

The study on social leisure spaces and the construction of cultural identity in the streams of Santa Izabel do Pará aims to analyze the discourse of the collective subject, from the intersubjectivities of leisure forms and the appropriation of environmental knowledge, as well as of the cultural experiences that took place in the igarapés. The chosen methodology was essentially qualitative and departed from the multi-methodological approach that advocates the use of different forms for greater data reliability, as the use of different methods compensates for the weaknesses of each procedure when used alone. Sixty-six subjects participated in the research by sampling by accessibility, involved in different communities. As the locus of the research, a selection of the main streams frequented or of reference in the municipality of Santa Izabel do Pará was carried out. The technique for data collection was through direct observation, image recording of stream spaces and semi-structured interviews. Data analysis used: qualitative observation of leisure spaces on streams, still images and collective subjects' discourse. The results point to the existence of different possible experiences of leisure in the igarapés, considering them as social spaces due to the relationship of coexistence and belonging of the residents, strengthening the cultural identity. Izabel society has a natural heritage that must be preserved. Observe the existence of a different meaning in the use of streams, as for the residents of the communities there is a strengthening of cultural identity in the streams, but for visitors the relationship brings the mass culture of use as temporary entertainment. In the analyzed speeches, different dimensions of free leisure can be seen: the playful, the creative, the festive, the ecological environmental, the solidary; and intentional leisure focused on aspects of tourism and economic investment. It was possible to carry out a triangulation between the observation of space, the recording of images, and the speeches, allowing us to intertwine the relationships of the needs of social subjects in communities regarding environmental conservation and democratic participation in the decisions of residents that are not yet effective. full mode. It was also possible to identify how the identity brand emerged as a form of marketing and not culturally built within and by the existing communities in the municipality. In the verbalized speeches, however, there is recognition by the residents of the existence of several streams in the municipality, allowing for the existence of the identity of “city of streams”, however, the concern with eminent public policies seeking to ensure the non-contamination of the waters of the streams must be constituted due to the large losses suffered to the detriment of the city's development logic. Leisure has potential to be discussed in the city through scientific fostering institutions, such as universities, with communities and the Departments of Culture, Leisure, Tourism and Sport, among others. As a social space for leisure on the streams, it is believed that individuals build and transform, individually and collectively, their cultural identity in favor of their own life story.
