Abstract: | This communication intends to discuss two fundamental scenic elements in the process of creation of the Theater&City - Center of Scenic Research of the UFMG: the masking and the act of moving through the urban space. The displacement will be explored here from two possibilities in which it happens in the work of the said group, that is, the displacement in field trips and the displacement to create scenes in theatrical residences through the creative conviviality. In both approaches the mask is found as a common element, guiding the relationship with space and its occupants. Field trips, for example, are carried out for the study of traditional manifestations of Brazilian popular culture that have mask and spatial displacement as founding elements, such as Folia de Reis. On the other hand, the group usually proposes processes of occupation and theatrical residences in different urban spaces establishing strategies of coexistence mediated by masking. This Favors the creation of scenic intervention structures that happen in an itinerant way through various spaces. The practical knowledge produced by the group in these experiments will be approached from the study of some of the works created by Theater& City in Belo Horizonte and Tiradentes. |
