Abstract

The sweet smell of incense, a trembling candlelight, the rhythmic movement of people, the agonizing cold marble, all impressed my senses. We as embodied beings form and rescued memories from the meetings we have with the materiality of the world. The way the materiality of the world impresses us through the senses determines the strength and quality of the processes of remembering and forgetting. Ritual in this context operates within a y relationship where sensory stimulation or sensory control create memories.
