Abstract:	O presente texto busca apresentar uma introdução à arquitetura conceitual de Boaventura Santos e à centralidade do direito em seu pensamento. Dessa forma, a partir de suas reflexões é possível analisar o direito tanto como um instrumento de regulação e de manutenção do status quo quanto como uma ferramenta que pode ser utilizada de um modo emancipatório.
Abstract:	This paper intends to present an introduction to the Boaventura Santos' conceptual architecture and to the centrality of the law in his thought. In this way, from his reflections it is possible to analyze the law as an instrument of regulation and maintenance of the status quo as well as a tool that can be used in an emancipatory way.
