| Abstract: | O objetivo deste artigo é analisar os efeitos de uma maior autonomia operacional do Banco Central do Brasil na condução da política monetária após a adoção do regime de metas de inflação em 1999. Além da discussão teórica sobre autonomia do Banco Central, estimou-se um modelo da regra de Taylor no período de julho de 1994 a abril de 2015. Conclui-se que o regime de metas é instrumento eficiente para dar maior autonomia ao Banco Central na condução da política monetária. Os resultados obtidos pela regra de Taylor foram favoráveis ao crescimento e à estabilidade da economia brasileira no período analisado. |
| Abstract: | The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effects of greater operational autonomy of the Central Bank of Brazil in the conduct of monetary policy after the adoption of the inflation targeting regime in 1999. In addition to the theoretical discussion on autonomy of the Central Bank, a model of the Taylor rule was estimated from July 1994 to April 2015. It is concluded that the target system is an efficient instrument to give greater autonomy to the Central Bank in conducting the monetary policy. The results obtained by the Taylor rule were favorable to the growth and stability of the Brazilian economy in the analyzed period. |
