Qualidade de vida em idosos com osteoartrose de joelhos: uma revisão de literatura

Abstract

The knee joint is most commonly subject to injury because of its anatomical structure, its exposure to external forces and the functional demands. Besides being numerous disorders of this joint, the consequences are varied for both the function and quality of life for the elderly. The main bouts are knee ligament injuries, dysfunctions patelllofemoral, meniscal injuries and degenerative lesions. In relation to degenerative stands osteoarthritis (OA). OA is now considered the most prevalent chronic joint disorder worldwide and is associated with significant pain and disability. Causes increased risk of falls, fractures and consequent worsening of the quality of life. This table affects a society economically, due to reduced workforce, and burdens the health systems of countries. This is due to the increased need for medical care and costs of remedial measures and symptomatic, mainly in industrialized societies. Wherever even as a consequence of the lesion is observed a marked increase in functional disability and running, creating greater dependence of the individual. The impaired functional capacity of the elderly has important implications for the family, the community, the health system and for the life of the elderly, since the failure causes greater vulnerability and dependency in old age, contributing to decreased well- being and quality of life for seniors. The term quality of life related to health (HRQOL) has been used as a concept associated with the patient's subjective evaluation and the impact of health status in the ability to live fully. It is known that chronic and degenerative diseases in the major therapeutic challenge is to change behavior concerning disabilities, chronic pain, disability, and how one faces the problems can negatively affect quality of life (QOL). Than, the objective do this study was to investigate the influence of osteortrose on quality of life for elderly.
