| Abstract: | Vale ressaltar a importância da prevenção de infecção em unidade de terapia intensiva, visto que a taxa de infecção pode ser ainda maior neste tipo de serviço, uma vez que a permanência do paciente normalmente tem um longo tempo. Tratase de uma revisão integrativa de literatura que teve como objetivo identificar as medidas de prevenção de infecção relacionadas ao manuseio do cateter venoso central de curta permanência em Unidade de Terapia Intensiva. Quanto ao procedimento metodológico, a busca foi através da base de dados da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, no período de abril de 2012 nos idiomas português e inglês, no período de 2006 a 2011. Foram encontradas recomendações para a prevenção de infecção da corrente sanguínea. As medidas de controle e prevenção de infecções relacionadas à assistência à saúde são conhecidas e ainda existem diretrizes a serem seguidas. Contudo os profissionais que atuam na assistência à saúde vêm negligenciando estas medidas. Esforços devem ser direcionados para a formação profissional e para programas de educação permanente, com foco nas questões éticas, legais e profissionais, para que ocorra uma transformação dessa realidade. |
| Abstract: | It is worth mentioning the importance of the prevention of infection in intensive care unit, since the rate of infection may be even greater in this type of service, since the patient usually has a long time. It is an integrative review of literature that aimed to identify the infection prevention measures related to the handling of short stay central venous catheter in intensive care unit. As regards the methodological procedure, the search was through the database of Virtual Health Library, in the period April 2012 in Portuguese and English languages, in the period from 2006 to 2011. Were found recommendations for preventing infection of the bloodstream. Control measures and prevention of health care-related infections are known and there are guidelines to be followed. Yet the professionals who work in health care have been neglecting these measures. Efforts should be directed towards professional training and continuing education programs, with a focus on ethical, legal and professional issues, to which occurs a transformation of this reality. |
