Palavra e catira : orientações cosmológicas e práticas de negociação calon em contexto de reconhecimento e direitos no Brasil

Abstract

This work aims to develop an ethnography with two groups of gypsies calon mineiros - Belo Horizonte/São Gabriel and Nova Lima /Osvaldo Penna II, in the context of recognition and rights, in the period between 2013-2018. The cartography of the world calon here presented part of the idea that it is not homogeneous and coesive and is immersed and dispersed in the majority society. The mechanisms of differentiation are reinforced by social institutions, such as the preference for marriage between Calon gypsies. This sociality is based on a moral system that is procedural and supported by notions of shame and honor, respect and strenght. These notions modulate relational patterns both among the gypsies themselves and between the gypsies and non gypsies. The contextual perspective of this thesis puts in the foreground the relation between gypsies and the gajon-literates in the current political-institutional context of extension of the channels of participation of gypsy leaders in the local and national scope. Following the political performance of a Calon leadership - Carlos Amaral - I try to show how the social organization and the calon´s cosmological orientations are triggered and guide the creativity and the practices of calon´s negotiation between gypsies and gajon worlds.
