Abstract: | This paper presents a case study that describes the solution adopted to repair the foundation of the historical church. Part of the church’s foundation was sinking, causing a slight tipping of the left tower of the church. There were some visits to the church for visual inspection and pathological manifestation identification and, subsequently, observation of the execution of the foundation reinforcement. The symptoms and pathological manifestations were recorded through photographs. To repair the foundation, the chosen solution was concrete piles and their execution was observed and recorded through photographs and videos. It was identified in the masonry of the left and front side façade, including the left tower, due to the foundation’s sinking in this region. The cracks identified in these masonries had thicknesses ranging from 0.8 cm to 3.05 cm. Because it is a church listed by historical heritage, the interventions must have minimal impacts and preserve the original aspects and elements. Thus, concrete piles are appropriate for their ease of execution in places with limited access and also for causing not so intense vibrations to the structures. |
