Abstract: | In order to identify and evaluate occupational hazards to mechanized forestry workers, this study was conducted in 2017 in a eucalyptus harvest area located in Alagoinhas, Bahia, with the use of harvester and forwarder. For the identification of environmental stressors agents, the methodology proposed by the American Industrial Hygiene Association was used and the identification of the hazards was done in the field, by observing the routine activities of the workers. The evaluation of the occupational risks was based on the analysis of the Environmental Risk Prevention Program (ERPP) of the company. Risk was then defined as the expression of the combination of consequences of an event and the associated probability of occurrence, and a risk tolerance matrix has been generated. It was verified that, in the mechanized forest harvesting activities, workers are exposed to the risks originated from physical, chemical, ergonomic and accident agents, highlighting the physical hazards (vibration) and ergonomic (repetitiveness and monotony). It is concluded that the identified risks are not only consequences of the physical environment, machines, equipment, products and substances, but of their interaction with forms of work organization and own management forms, and their analysis and management must take into account these factors together. |
