| Abstract: | The contribution of this paper is threefold. First, it proposesgeneral specifications for export and import functions thatencompass the contributions of both Kaldorian and Schum-peterian literatures on the determinants of trade performance.Second, the paper provides evidence of the impact of non-price competitiveness, measured by the growth of relativeeconomic efficiency on export and import growth in differ-ent technological sectors. Third, it shows that the magnitudeof income elasticities of demand is partially determined byrelative economic efficiency. |
| Abstract: | A contribuição deste trabalho é tríplice. Em primeiro lugar, propõe especificações gerais para as funções de exportação e importação que abrangem as contribuições das literaturas kaldoriana e schumpeteriana sobre os determinantes do desempenho comercial. sobre o crescimento das exportações e importações em diferentes setores tecnológicos. Em terceiro lugar, mostra que a magnitude das elasticidades-renda da demanda é parcialmente determinada pela eficiência econômica relativa. |
