Variação linguística e ensino da ortografia: o uso do conector adversativo "mas" em textos escritos por adultos em processo de escolarização

Abstract

This text aims to analyze the variation of the connector “mas” (which means “but”) in texts written by adults in the process of schooling corresponding to the Final Years of Elementary School, as well as to verify in what extension a reflexive study regarding this grammatical topic, in the school context, in the discipline of Portuguese Language, can contribute to help students to have a better domain of the orthographic norm. For that, quantitative and qualitative methods are used to quantify and analyze the data considering Variationist Sociolinguistic theories and the teaching of spelling purposes. From the analysis carried out, it was possible to confirm the hypothesis that the process of schooling, coupled with reflective teaching practices, can increase the use of standard orthographic variants in writing.
