| Abstract: | O objetivo deste estudo é discutir as experiências com a dança promovidas em São Paulo entre os anos 1830 e 1860, mais especificamente os discursos que as consideravam como uma escola de virtudes, estratégias para educar tendo em conta novas exigências sociais que se delineavam na cidade. Trata-se, portanto, de investigar iniciativas de educação do corpo, entendida como processo amplo de adequação a certos costumes, algo que passa pelo aprendizado de técnicas corporais, bem como de comportamentos julgados adequados. O recorte temporal teve em conta os primeiros indícios de ensino estruturado da prática e o início do momento em que houve um grande desenvolvimento da capital paulista. Como fontes, foram utilizados periódicos publicados no período. |
| Abstract: | The purpose of this study is to discuss the experiences with dance promoted in São Paulo between the 1830’s and 1860’s, mainly the discourses that considered them as school of virtues, strategies to educate considering new social requirements that were outlined in a city. It is, therefore, an investigation on initiatives of body education, here understood as a broad process of adaptation to new customs, something that involves corporal techniques as well as certain behaviours. The study period consider the first initiatives of structured teaching of the dance and the beginning of the moment in which there was a great development of São Paulo. As sources, they were used periodicals published in the period. |
