| Abstract: | Marcelino Freire, contista notável da geração contemporânea da literatura brasileira, constrói um universo ficcional muito particular, no qual seus personagens — oriundos predominantemente das camadas marginalizadas da sociedade brasileira — colocam suas vozes em cena para escancarar nossas mazelas sociais. Isso se manifesta de forma muito especial no tocante à hipocrisia dos discursos acerca da universalidade dos direitos prescritos em lei, numa sociedade tão marcadamente desigual como a nossa. A ironia é estratégia discursiva importante para o autor nessa empreitada, e a violência parece ser um dos poucos recursos acessíveis para que as vozes evocadas por Marcelino invadam o espaço público, para o qual jamais seriam convidadas. Essas são as questões fundamentais debatidas neste artigo, nesses tempos em que o espaço público se retrai, o interesse comum é suplantado pelo interesse privado e até mesmo os direitos ainda sequer efetivamente garantidos são revogados em favor de privilégios. |
| Abstract: | Marcelino Freire, a notable contemporary Brazilian writer, builds a very particular fctional universe in which his characters — who come predominantly from the marginalized layers of Brazilian society — put their voices in scene to open wide our social woes. This is demonstrated in a very special way regarding the hypocrisy of discourses about the universality of the rights prescribed by law in a markedly unequal country like Brazil.Irony is an important discursive strategy for the author in this endeavor and violence seems to be one of the few accessible resources used by the voices evoked by Marcelino toinvade the public space, for which they would never be invited. These are the fundamental issues discussed in this paper, in these times when the public space retracts and the common interest is supplanted by private interest and even rights that are not yetefectively guaranteed are revoked in favor of privileges. |
