| Abstract: | O objetivo desse trabalho foi mostrar o tratamento com extrações dentárias de um caso de Classe I em que o primeiro molar superior esquerdo apresentava maior comprometimento na estrutura da coroa e necessidade de tratamento endodôntico e o segundo pré-molar superior direito estava irrompido ectopicamente no palato. O plano de tratamento foi realizado com extrações desses dentes somadas às extrações de 2 primeiros pré-molares inferiores. A mecânica ortodôntica não sofreu grandes alterações por causada extração atípica, pois havia grande quantidade de apinhamento nos arcos dentários. Ao final do tratamento, o paciente apresentava oclusão satisfatória com grande harmonia da face e estética do sorriso, demonstrando que as extrações atípicas podem auxiliar a correção de más oclusões com grande benefício para o paciente |
| Abstract: | The objective of this work was to show the treatment with dental extractions of a ClassI case in which the left maxillary first molar presented greater involvement in the crown structure and need for endodontic treatment and the right maxillary second premolar was erupted ectopically on the palate. The treatment plan was performed with extractions of these teeth added to the extractions of 2 mandibular first premolars. The orthodontic mechanics did not undergo major changes because of the atypical extraction, because there was a great amount of crowding in the dental arches. At the end of treatment, the patient presented satisfactory occlusion with great facial harmony and smile esthetics, demonstrating that atypical extractions may help to correct malocclusions with great benefit to the patient. |
