dc.description.abstractEsse artigo intenciona analisar como os romances Sula, de Toni Morrison, e As mulheres de Brewster Place, escrito por Gloria Naylor, desconstroem imagens de autoridade da mulher negra, principalmente a imagem da matriarca. As personagens Eva Peace em Sula e Mattie Michael em The Women of Brewster Place, entre outras, são excelentes exemplos de mulheres negras que rejeitaram vários dos lugares e estereótipos a elas reservados na sociedade, consequentemente desconstruindo imagens de autoridade que a sociedade tem lhes imposto. Estes romances dão ênfase aos múltiplos papéis das mulheres negras na sociedade, e dessa forma abrem possibilidades para uma experiência libertadora da feminilidade negra.pt_BR
