Abstract: Based on a critical-historical approach to design and method, we analyze in this paper the relational dimension of the experiences and actions proposed by Radical Design in the fields of architecture, fashion, and art. We address the following issues: the complexity of the scientific field of design, the aesthetic dimension of relational experiences and the disruptive system that redefines not only the methods but also the practices of design. We also observe how the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary character of Radical Design proposes an active criticism based on experiments with the ways of living, dressing and creating new concepts. In addition, we address how the ideas of Radical Design aimed to change the object consumption system’s guidelines to allow new possibilities of sensory experiences. Finally, we analyze how methods adopted by designers guided the strategies for design practice by challenging the socio-cultural meanings of design objects.
