dc.description.abstractIntroduction: On June 28, 2020, the total number of confirmedcases in Brazil was 1.344.143 and 57.622 deaths. These figures leave the country in secondplace in the world, behind only the United States in the number of confirmed cases. The real situation may be much worse, one that in Brazil faces a low test performed for COVID-19. In front of this situation, and with the lack of a vaccine or some efficient medication for the treatment of COVID-19, quarantine, social isolation and social distance are seen as the most effective mechanisms. Objective: This study sought to describe how the Brazilian population supports and performs social isolation at this time when COVID-19. Method: The data used in this study were produced by Instituto Olhar, Crisp-UFMG and NetQuest within the scope of the Crisis Thermometer project COVID-19. Data from three waves that were carried out in April 2020 were used. Analyzes were made to assess support and behavior towards social isolation in Brazil Results: The results of this study reveal the support for isolation by the Brazilian population, but when confronted with data on the Social Isolation Index, there is a difference between discourse and practice. Conclusion: The economic situation is forcing individuals to leave home in search of sustenance. In addition, confusion in the political sphere regarding social isolation, may make the population not really know how to proceed.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoEm 28 de junho de 2020 o total de casos confirmados no Brasil eram de 1.344.143 casos confirmados e 57.622 mortes. Esses números deixam o país em segundo lugar no mundo, atrás apenas dos Estados Unidos. A situação real pode ser bem pior, uma que que no Brasil enfrenta uma baixa testagem realizada para COVID-19. Diante dessa situação, e com a falta de vacina ou algum medicamento eficiente para o tratamento da COVID-19, a quarentena, o isolamento social e o distanciamento social são vistos como os mecanismos mais eficazes. Objetivo: Este estudo buscou descrever como a população brasileira apoia e realiza o isolamento social neste momento em que o COVID-19. Método: Os dados utilizados neste estudo foram produzidos pelo Instituto Olhar, Crisp-UFMG e NetQuest no âmbito do projeto Termômetro da Crise COVID-19. Foram utilizados os dados de três ondas que foram realizadas no mês de abril de 2020. Análises foram feitas para avaliar o apoio e o comportamento em relação ao isolamento social no Brasil Resultados: Os resultados deste estudo revelam o apoio ao isolamento por parte da população brasileira, mas quando confrontados com dados sobre o Índice de Isolamento Social observa-se uma diferença entre o discurso e a prática. Conclusão: A situação econômica está forçando os indivíduos a saírem de casa em busca de sustento. Além disso, a confusão na esfera política em relação ao isolamento social, pode fazer com que a população não saiba realmente como proceder.pt_BR
