Abstract: | O ser humano possui características comportamentais que influenciam determinadas atitudes por ele adotadas. Uma dessas características é a forma como ele se enxerga em relação ao mundo e a outras pessoas. Quando os indivíduos tendem a achar que ser superior a outros os tornam especiais, pode-se observar que existem neles características narcisistas. E, para sustentarem a sua sensação de superioridade, os narcisistas utilizam as comparações com outros indivíduos. O objetivo desta pesquisa consiste em examinar a relação entre traços não patológicos de personalidade narcisista, autoestima elevada e as diferenças individuais na frequência de comparação social entre estudantes de graduação do curso de Ciências Contábeis da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de questionário aplicado a 176 estudantes, contemplando três escalas para mensurar traços não patológicos de personalidade narcisista, autoestima elevada e aspectos relacionados ao processo de comparação social. Chegou-se à conclusão de que indivíduos com níveis mais elevados de traços de personalidade narcisista apresentam, também, níveis mais elevados de autoestima. Em relação à autoestima e à comparação social, verificou-se que indivíduos que apresentam autoestima elevada tendem a realizar menos comparações sociais. Estes dois primeiros resultados convergiram com as discussões teóricas e resultados obtidos por estudos semelhantes. |
Abstract: | The human being has behavioral characteristics that influence certain attitudes adopted by him. One of these characteristics is the way he sees himself in relation to the world and to other people. When individuals tend to think that being superior to others make them special, it can be observed that there are narcissistic characteristics in them. And to support their of superiority, narcissists use comparisons with other individuals. This research examined the relation between non-pathological traits of a narcissist personality, high self-esteem and the individual differences in the frequency of social comparison among students of the course of Accounting of Federal University of Minas Gerais. Data collection was performed through a questionnaire applied to 176 students of the course of Accounting, contemplating three scales of measure non-pathological traits of narcissistic personality, high self-esteem and aspects related to the process of social comparison. It was concluded that individuals with higher levels of narcissistic personality traits also have higher levels of self-esteem. In relation to self-esteem and social comparison, it was found that individual with high self-esteem tended to perform less social comparisons. These two first results converged with the theoretical discussions and results obtained by similar studies. |
