Criminalidade urbana : percepção de furtos e roubos a transeuntes no bairro Lagoinha

Abstract

The objective of this work was to list the problems that most affect public safety in the neighborhood Lagoinha, in Belo Horizonte, which are crimes against the person and against property such as: thefts and robberies to passers-by. For its accomplishment, it was used the methodology of quantitative approach of documentary source of data of the REDS from January to May of 2015 and application of questionnaire to 113 people who circulated daily in the region under study. The reference was made to the importance of the participation of the municipality in public security, as well as the actions of violence prevention proposed by the Military Police of Belo Horizonte. It also dealt with the influence and interference that the economy makes in the practice of crime and in society, and other issues addressed were urban development and crime and Theory of routine activity. These themes were the basis of the research, since Bairro Lagoinha, because it is a neighborhood near the central region of Belo Horizonte, has a characteristic that is relevant to the proposed themes. As a result, the REDS data pointed out that the Lagoinha region has a high index of crimes against property and people, and several robberies and robberies to property and to passers-by have been identified as a region of social vulnerability, with poorly lit streets and Contain an intense movement of employees, students and residents and little policing. It was found in both the questionnaire and the REDS data that the profile preferred by the offenders was the feminine one and the belongings taken were mostly cell phones, cars, motorcycles, purses and relays. The region, according to the respondents, conveys a feeling of insecurity of 75.3%, that is, it is considered a region of insecurity and in terms of safety efficiency, 79.5% reported not being efficient. Many of them use self-protective measures, since the region has little policing, poor infrastructure, and intense movement of beggars and marginals and drug users. It is concluded that it is of utmost importance to implement public policies aimed at the revitalization of urban space and continuous actions of social protection services, while sensitizing the local community and floating Lagoinha neighborhood.
