dc.description.abstractThe objective of this research is to analyze the biography Getúlio Vargas, meu Pai-Getúlio Vargas, my Father - written by Alzira Vargas, daughter of the biographer, seeking mainly to verify which ethé are outlined for Getúlio Vargas, with the purpose of understanding, from them, what the image of the statesman his daughter wished for crystallizing to posterity. As a theoretical framework, we have emphasized the studies onethos, fetching contemporary contributions to this category in Charaudeau. We emphasize that, as this biography also passes through by historical and political domination, it was necessary to analyze it concern interdiscursivity, with elements originating from these domains. In the version presented by Alzira the ethé designed for the protagonist attribute tohim numerous virtues, registering a shortage of vicious acts, these always justified by the author. Therefore, in this biography, the image fixed for Getúlio Vargas was highly positive, which is questionable when compared to inputs produced in other discursive instances. Thusm we find that Getulio's ethos "fluctuates" considerably, according to the goals and intention of the writers.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoO objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar a biografia Getúlio Vargas, meu Pai, escrita por Alzira Vargas, filha do biografado, buscando, principalmente, verificar quais ethé são delineados para Getúlio Vargas, com o propósito de compreender, a partir deles, qual a imagem do estadista sua filha desejou cristalizar para a posteridade. Como arcabouço teórico, demos ênfase aos estudos acerca do ethos, buscando contribuições contemporâneas para essa categoria em Charaudeau (2008). Destacamos que, como essa biografia é perpassada, também, pelo domínio histórico e político, foi necessário analisá-la interdiscursivamente, com elementos oriundos desses domínios. Na versão apresentada por Alzira, os ethé projetados para o protagonista atribuem a ele inúmeras virtudes, registrando-se escassez de atos viciosos, estes sempre justificados pela autora. Portanto, nessa biografia, a imagem fixada para Getúlio Vargas foi altamente positiva, o que é questionável quando comparada com insumos produzidos em outras instâncias discursivas. Constatamos assim, que o ethos de Getúlio “flutua” consideravelmente, de acordo com os objetivos e intenções dos escritores.pt_BR
