Resposta aos procedimentos de reanimação neonatal no quinto minuto de vida em recém-nascidos Apgar ≤3 no primeiro minuto

Abstract

Birth is a critical moment in life. 10% of newborns will require some type of resuscitation maneuver. The Apgar bulletin does not indicate procedures, but allows to evaluate the response of the NB to the maneuvers performed Aim: The objective of this work was to evaluate the vitality of newborns at birth and to describe the response to neonatal resuscitation procedures in newborns (NB) with Apgar score of 1 minute ≤ 3, considering the importance of adequate assistance in the Golden Minute. Methods: It is a retrospective study of the assistive and evolution population of live births up to the 5th minute of life in reference maternity. Data were obtained through the SISMater information system, from January 2010 to December 2015. Statistical Package for Social Science was used for analysis. Results: A total of 154 NB presented Apgar of 1 minute ≤ 3 (112 ≥ 34 weeks and 42 <34 weeks of Gestational Age). All of them were submitted to the initial steps and 64.3% presented recovery in the Apgar of 5 minutes. Of the NB submitted to procedures, 63.8% recovered with mask ventilation, and there was a lower recovery rate in neonates with gestational age <34 weeks. Conclusions: Adequate ventilation of the newborn is the main procedure for recovery of Apgar at 5 minutes and one third of newborns with Apgar ≤ 3 in the first minute of life may require advanced resuscitation procedures. Thus, it is considered that the presence of a trained pediatrician in the delivery room is essential for adequate care of NB without vitality
