“Ô doutor, acha aquele povo da blusa verde pra ajudar nóis”: as organizações políticas de familiares de pessoas presas em Minas Gerais e a resistência às violências do encarceramento

Abstract

The present work discusses the theme of social movements and collective action, dealing with political organizations of family members of prisoners. With the growth of the Brazilian prison population and the expansion of the punitive effects of the criminal justice system, manifestations of violence tend to expand, including directed to families of prey. Due to the low social visibility and public disinterest regarding this group, there is a scarcity of academic production that aims to understand the impacts of criminal dilation in this population and the strategies built as resistance, especially with regard to collective action. In view of the potentialities of political organizations theoretically based on the theory of social movements and the collective action of political psychology, we seek to understand the organized collective action of family members of people arrested on the violence of the criminal justice system. For this purpose, this work is divided into three sections. The first chapter spells out the theoretical references of critical criminology and criminal abolitionism that underlies research, presenting the origins, functions and relationship of jail with economic and political systems. The first article becomes the result of the systematic literature review performed with the objective of studying academic production regarding the specific issue of family members of people arrested as a political organization. From the content method of content analysis, we perform the categorization of productions and the analysis of this data set, which exposed the insufficiency of research that understand family members as a political organization, highlighting the erasure by academic production. In turn, the second article starts from the fieldwork done through clinical research interviews and presents the political organizations of Minas Gerais. The interviews were conducted with references from three existing political organizations in the state and aimed to understand the processes of mobilization and collective action, female protagonism and the construction of the political identity of these organizations, especially during the period of restrictions resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. . Providing the discussion of resistance as health production, we highlight the urgency of inserting this theme in any areas that propose health promoters and rights guaranteers.
