Abstract

The polycystic ovary syndrome (POS) is the most frequent endocrinopathy among women in reproductive age. It represents a spectrum of clinical presentations and associates with obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome and persistent low-grade inflammation. It is frequently associated with other metabolic diseases. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is considered the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome. It is also a part of many metabolic dysfunctions and, therefore, it is related to the POS. The following paper aims to review both entities by correlating them.
