Title: Determining the functions of second-person pronoun forms cê/ocê/você in brazilian portuguese through acoustic analysis
Authors: Lucia de Almeida Ferrari
Bárbara Helohá Falcão Teixeira
Abstract: This paper pr esents a resear ch on Br azilian Portuguese second-person pr onoun forms cê/ocê/você. Our aim is to propose a new methodology for studying the functional properties of these forms based on the acoustic analysis of spontaneous speech data from the C-ORALBRASIL corpus (Raso & Mello 2012). We propose that the possible cliticization and the functional properties of these forms must be assessed through prosodic and distributional, rather than syntactic, criteria.
