| Abstract: | El objetivo central del presente artículo es el de brindar una caracterización de los fundamentos de la biolingüística, identificando algunas consecuencias teóricas y empíricas. La principal diferencia de la biolingüística con lo que se proponía en modelos anteriores, es la revisión del locus de los principios de la facultad del lenguaje. Con la biolingüística se focalizan los principios de una naturaleza cognitiva más amplia, que tendrían un papel central en la determinación de los hechos internos del lenguaje. Teniendo en cuenta el análisis de Sigurðsson (2011) sobre el fenómeno del sujeto nulo que emplea la noción de tercer factor, se discute el lugar y la función de la variación lingüística en el modelo. De igual forma nos preguntamos si los datos descriptivos juegan un papel instrumental en términos de la búsqueda de principios de alcance cognitivo más amplio, lo que nos lleva a preguntarnos cuál es efectivamente el objeto de estudio que le interesa a la teoría lingüística. |
| Abstract: | The main goal of this paper is to develop a discussion about the foundations of biolinguistics. The major difference between biolinguistics and what was done before is the theoretical role of the principles of the faculty of language. Now, the focus is on principles of other cognitive systems which have a role in internal facts of language. With particular reference to Sigurðsson’s (2011) analysis on the well known phenomena of the null subjects, which considers the notion of third factor, we showed that the biolinguistic perspective allows us to rethink the definition of the role of linguistic variation and the value of the notion of parameter, which now appears to have a secondary role. Finally, the discussion leads us to ask what in fact is the object of study that is of interest to the linguistic theory. |
