Abstract: | Objectives: To validate the widely used SCOFF-BR questionnaire in a sample of pregnant women. No previous study assessed the validity of a Brazilian Portuguese version of the SCOFF questionnaire (SCOFF- BR) for screening EDs in pregnant women. We hypothesize that this culturally adapted Brazilian version of the SCOFF questionnaire is reliable for screening EDs in pregnant women. Methods: This study used the Brazilian Portuguese version of the SCOFF questionnaire (SCOFF-BR) in 402 pregnant women to screen for eating disorders. Pre-trained researchers interviewed the participants that completed the SCOFF-BR questionnaire. The study used the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview as the gold standard for eating disorders. Results: At the endpoint, the MINI diagnosed 0.49% with anorexia nervosa and 3.7% with bulimia nervosa. The five-question SCOFF-BR yields a sensitivity of 88.2% and specificity of 67.4% for screening EDs, and the area under the curve was of 83.4%. Conclusion: The SCOFF-BR present satisfactory accuracy and reliability for screening eating disorders in pregnant women. |
