Título: | Dental caries remains a significant public health problem for south american indigenous peoples |
Autor(es): | Alex Junio Silva da Cruz Johana Alejandra Moreno-drada Jacqueline Silva Santos Mauro Henrique Nogueira Guimarães de Abreu |
Resumo: | A systematic review of the literature, with meta-analysis, was conducted up to March 2018 throughout the following electronic databases: MEDLINE/PubMed, SCOPUS, SciELO, and LILACS. Gray literature was also included. The searching strategy included three blocks of terms involving the outcome, the population, and the locations. The selection of the studies was developed by two authors. First, the authors evaluated the title and the abstract, then they assessed the full text, and finally the papers were selected. Papers without the prevalence of dental caries or decayed-missing-filled teeth (dmft/DMFT) indexes, studies that did not report the results for Indigenous people independently, and archeological research were excluded. No filters for language and publication dates were applied. |
