As mulheres como sujeitos da Ciência: uma análise da participação das mulheres na Ciência Moderna

Abstract

This paper intends to revisit the complex debate about the participation of women in the modern Western scientific field. The developed theoretical researchconsidered institutional aspects of women participation in scientific practices ; productivity indicators ; the rescue of the personal history of women in science ; and scientific culture in the different subject areas. On the one hand , there is a theoretical current that believes in the lack of women in science , on the other there is an amount of academics who reported the presence of women in science and focus on the invisibility of these mechanisms in historiography. It is true that the controversial field" Women and Science " presents different conceptions about their subjects participation however, there is a consensus: the understanding that science is a field of power and that women have been at a disadvantage . Rather than choose sides or establish apriori divisions, the purpose of this paper is to occupy the border area of these studies, covering points of closeness and distance between reflections which lead us in a way that can support the search for understanding of women participation in science.
